With the support of the Save the Frogs Foundation, the 16th annual “Save the Frogs Day 2024” was celebrated on May 11th. As part of the celebration, PRADHIKAR , an organization from Sylhet Agricultural University dedicated to animal welfare, environmental protection, and biodiversity conservation, organized a school program and an Eco-tour.

This year, PRADHIKAR once again undertook various initiatives to celebrate “Save the Frogs Day 2024.” As part of the celebration, PRADHIKAR arranged a school program to raise awareness about frog conservation among students. This year’s program was held at Takerghat Chunapathar Khoni Secondary School & College
in Tahirpur Upazila, Sunamganj District. The event was conducted by PRADHIKAR’s General Secretary Tushar Kanti Roy and presided over by President Md Mahadi Hasan. The school program involved students from the class eight, nine, and ten.

During the event, PRAKRIK’s Executive Committee Organizing Secretary, Aklima Hoque Akhi, presented an essay on the importance of frogs and their role in the environment. Following the essay presentation, a quiz competition was organized for class nine and ten, and a drawing competition was held for class eight. Based on the results, students were awarded prizes funded by SAVE THE FROGS!.

On the same day, an eco-tour was organized with the executive members of PRADHIKAR , visiting Niladri Lake, Lakma Chora, Shimul Bagan, and Barek Tila in Tahirpur Upazila, Sunamganj District in Bangladesh . This eco-tour, supported by SAVE THE FROGS!, aimed to raise awareness among the local population and observe biodiversity in the area.

Regarding the initiatives, PRADHIKAR President Md Mahadi Hasan stated, “Among PRADHIKAR’s activities, school programs and eco-tours are significant. In school programs, we conduct various awareness activities with students, as today’s children will become future leaders. If we can spread awareness among them now, it will spread across the country in the future. Eco-tours involve traveling to diverse natural sites and spreading awareness among the local people.”

PRADHIKAR’s General Secretary Tushar Kanti Roy added, “We organize this event every year with a focus on school students because today’s children are the architects of tomorrow. In their hands lies the creation of a beautiful future world. If we can instill awareness about animals and the environment in them from a young age, the future will hold a beautiful world for us.”

There are no words to show our appreciation to Kerry Kriger & SAVE THE FROGS!
